Climate Advocacy

学生事务处 就业及实习 Climate Advocacy

HKMU SAO has continued proactive measures to encourage student engagement with global issues, with climate change being one of the most pressing topics worldwide. Our goal is to incubate students and help them demonstrate a strong commitment to advocating for issues related to the climate crisis, carbon neutrality, sustainable development, and other related environmental problems.

Through various programme offering, we aim to nurture these students to become the next generation of leaders in climate advocacy. By equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to address these issues, we hope to empower them to make a positive impact on the world.

Climate Leaders Training Programme(Day 2) - Climate Injustice and Contemporary Climate Matters

07 Oct 2024 | 14:00 - 17:00

The second day focused on experimental training in climate injustice and contemporary climate issues. Students were divided into two groups: Group A worked on upgrading LED lighting for subdivided homes while Group B visited the “Trapped Experience Centre & Human Library”, both gaining first-hand insights into local climate injustice.

These immersive experiences highlighted the importance of supporting energy-efficient, low-carbon appliances and inspired students to consider actionable solutions for their communities. The day was a profound learning experience, emphasising the real-world impacts of climate change and the critical need for equitable climate actions.

Climate Leaders Training Programme(Day 1) - Climate Change 101

28 Sep 2024 | 10:00 - 17:00

As the kickoff of the programme, participants delved into the fundamentals of climate change, led by Dr. Panda Chan, Assistant Professor of School of Science and Technology. The session covered the science behind climate change, its impacts, and the importance of climate mitigation and adaptation. Students also reflected on the reality of climate change and explored the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Following this, the focus shifted to empowering youth as climate leaders. Through engaging activities, students developed leadership skills, fostered collaboration, and practiced future thinking in climate actions. The Future Frequency Workshop was a highlight, inspiring participants to take proactive roles in addressing climate change.
