At the beginning of the new academic year, we believe you are keen on having a fulfilling and meaningful university life, making new friends and applying your classroom learning to contribute to the society in addition to working hard in your academic study.

SAO has established the “Me&U Community Caring Programme” for this purpose. Through partnering with different NGOs and local organizations, we have initiated diversified projects for you to contribute your knowledge. To unleash your potentials, you are cordially invited to join our team to serve the vulnerable communities in the society through the designed activities. Under the programme, you will also be offered the chance to involve in the community service planning, understand different social issues and enhance your personal growth.

Our Service Teams

“MEETING US” ELDERLY CARING TEAM

Partnering Organization: Auxiliary Medical Service (AMS)

  • Participating in elderly services organized by AMS, such as home visits, introduction of basic home safety and medical knowledge, etc.;
  • Applying academic knowledge and skills to design service plans for the elderly;
  • Organizing activities to participate with the elderly; and
  • Establishing trust and friendship with the beneficiaries.

“GIVING A HUG” ANIMAL WELFARE TEAM

Partnering Organization: SPCA

  • Providing services for abandoned or needy animals, such as animal visits and cleaning kennels & shelters, etc.;
  • Participating in animal rescue, patrolling and investigating animal abuse actions;
  • Participating in animal welfare-related activities; and
  • Producing video/ animation to raise awareness of animal welfare and abandoned animals in HKMU community as well as the society.

“LINKING UP” SUB-DIVIDED UNITS SUPPORT TEAM

Partnering Organization: Concern for Grassroots' Livelihood Alliance

  • Providing basic home maintenance and space makeover services for sub-divided unit tenants and grassroots families;
  • Providing academic tutoring for the children of the service targets; and
  • Planning and leading outreach activities.

MU Global Citizenship Programme is an oversea service learning tour during 2024 Summer. More details will be announced in early of 2024.
Service Period
Mid-Oct 2023 to late-Aug 2024
(The services are across the whole academic year)

Interview Arrangement

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview between 26 Sep and 28 Sep 2023.
Further details will be announced through student email by 22 Sep 2023.
