The 2024–25 V-Power Orientation Day was successfully held on 27th October 2024. The event aimed to deepen the mutual understanding among volunteers through this orientation, thereby fostering team cohesion and spirit of cooperation, laying a solid foundation for future community service work.

The event commenced with a welcoming speech by Dr Li Kam Cheong, Dean of the School of Open Learning. Dr Li delivered a welcome speech to the new cohort of V-Power members and expressed his expectations that students to fully utilize their skills to serve those in need. Additionally, Dr Li encouraged students to actively participate in volunteer activities to strengthen the connection between the University and the community. To further enhance new joiners' understanding of the value and significance of volunteer service, two award-winning senior volunteers were also invited to share their experiences and insights on that day.

Furthermore, a series of leadership training activities were arranged to enhance volunteers' communication skills and teamwork through various problem-solving exercises. After the activities, the V-Power volunteer team engaged in a reflection and discussion session, highlighting their passion for serving diverse communities, learning new skills and enhancing communication abilities.

The event not only enhanced distance-learning and part-time students' understanding of volunteer service and equipped them for future community service work, but also enriched their learning experience.
