The Doctor of Engineering is a professional doctorate degree to prepare engineers to work at the highest level of the engineering profession. Graduates of the D.Eng. are problem solvers who can deploy technology knowhow to solve real engineering problem in an innovative way for the benefit of mankind, taking into account of the social, economic, environmental, political and institutional implications. These individuals are expected to further their career as a professional engineer in a business, industry or public environment.

Students admitted to the programmes should have a recognized master’s degree in Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
Admission to the programme will be on a competitive basis, subject to, among other things, an admission quota as determined by the School and University from time to time.
| A student admitted to the programme will be required to complete 24 or more credits of course work, depending on the background of the student, before proceeding to the research project. A typical part-time student will spend two years to complete the course work and another two years to conduct research and write the thesis. There is no credit exemption for the course work or thesis part of the programme. |

The Doctor of Engineering programme will admit students in the Autumn term only. Students are required to complete the coursework and thesis.
