University English Courses

Year 1 Entry students (except B&A) admitted in 2023/24 Academic Year or thereafter are normally required to complete two University English courses carrying 6 credit-units.

Programme-specific alternate arrangements

For A&SS, students are required to complete ENGL 1102AEF Presentation Skills in lieu of ENGL 1202EEF to fulfill University English requirements. Students who had attained Level 5 or above in HKDSE English Language may opt to complete ENGL 1002AEF Classic American Films and/or ENGL 1003AEF British and American Short Stories in lieu of ENGL 1101AEF and/or ENGL 1102AEF.

For E&L, students of the following programmes are not required to complete University English courses:

– Bachelor of Education with Honours in English Language Teaching and Bachelor of English Language Studies with Honours
– Bachelor of English Language Studies with Honours
