The School of Education and Languages of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) recently signed an “Employment and Internship Agreement” with the Foshan Chancheng District Education Bureau. The agreement aims to further enhance exchanges between the School and primary schools, secondary schools and kindergartens in Chancheng District, thereby increasing internship opportunities for students and deepening their understanding of education and culture in Mainland China.

The agreement was signed on 18 October by Prof. Andy Chin Chi-on, Dean of the School of Education and Languages, and Mr Liu Yousun, Director of the Foshan Chancheng District Education Bureau, and was witnessed by Prof. Reggie Kwan Ching-ping, Provost of HKMU, and Ms He Haihong, Deputy Chief Executive of the Chancheng District People’s Government, Foshan Municipality.

Under the agreement, the Chancheng District Education Bureau will provide internship places for students in Chinese language education, English language education and early childhood education programmes at HKMU. Through school-enterprise networking activities, HKMU students will visit local primary schools, secondary schools and kindergartens to learn about the local education system, thereby promoting teaching and learning exchanges between the two places, and helping students develop a better understanding of local customs and Lingnan culture.

During the visit to HKMU, the Foshan Chancheng District Education Bureau signed the agreement and gained a deeper understanding of the latest developments in the HKMU educational programmes. The delegation also visited the Heep Hong Society Lam Woo Foundation Child Development Centre on the HKMU campus, where Dr Kuo Chun-chuen, Heep Hong Society Deputy Chief Executive Officer, introduced the support provided by the Centre for children with special educational needs.
