An original mystery novel, titled Inspiration (《靈感》), by Shang Mengjie, a graduate of the Master of Arts in Creative Writing programme, was adapted to a script for the first music-themed live-action role play game (LARP) by the Museum of Hong Kong Literature. The LARP incorporates holographic projection technology to provide players with an immersive theatre experience. After receiving positive feedback in a public playtest on 31 October, it will be launched officially on 14 December.

Set in 1947, Inspiration relates the story of how a chandelier accidentally falling onto the stage when a renowned musician is performing her famous piece “Moonlight” subsequently reveals a long-buried secret. The novel was showcased at a graduation exhibition organised by HKMU for graduating master's students in creative arts to display their writing and artwork in 2023.

The Museum of Hong Kong Literature is a non-governmental art institution, established as a new landmark for Hong Kong literature. It houses a sizable literary collection and hosts literary education events, exhibitions and salons. It features permanent exhibition halls, a children’s story room and a Hong Kong literature reading room, utilising modern digital technology to introduce Hong Kong literary works to both Hong Kong residents and visitors. The room narrates the century-old story of Hong Kong literature and inspires young locals to engage in literary reading and creation. Each year, the museum hosts a variety of literary salons and writing workshops, inviting renowned writers to engage in face-to-face discussions with literature enthusiasts. The aim of the activities is to foster the inheritance and development of Hong Kong literature.
