The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) announces today (18 April) that President Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong, together with Provost Prof. Reggie Kwan Ching-ping, Vice President (Resources and Development) Prof. Lui Yu-hon, Vice President (Students and Support) Prof. Tong Chong-sze, will donate 10 percent of their monthly salary for one year to support students' living expenses and study needs.

OUHK expressed that the Hong Kong economy has been severely hit by the epidemic that has lasted for several months, and the unemployment rate has continued to rise, causing many students and their families to suffer from economic difficulties. In view of this, the President, Provost and Vice Presidents of the University hope to do their best in this difficult time to ease the financial pressure on students.

President Prof. Wong said, “OUHK has always been concerned about the impact of the epidemic on students and we understand that students may have encountered various difficulties in continuing their studies. In order to ease their hardships, we have decided to donate part of our salary to support their living expenses and study needs.”

Established by the Government in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) has developed into a full-fledged university providing high quality and flexible university education at various levels to secondary school graduates and working adults.
