According to the funding results announced by the RGC, the OUHK has been granted research funding of over HK$15 million for seventeen projects, which is the highest among all fifteen eligible self-financing institutions. Sixteen of the successful projects are funded under the Faculty Development Scheme (FDS). The total amount granted for the FDS proposals (HK14.8 million) is also the highest among all institutions. In particular, four FDS projects get more than HK$1 million, which also ranks first among all institutions.
Among the 16 FDS projects, the University has got four funded proposals in the Biology and Medicine area and three in the Business Studies area, which achieves the highest total amount of funding in the two subject areas.
President of the OUHK Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong said that the OUHK is thankful for the support and recognition of the RGC. The RGC funding results reaffirm the research effort of the University. "The OUHK has continuously invested resources to uplift its research capabilities. We have set up seven research institutes and centres that are driving our university-wide research in special areas of strength. We believe our flourishing research culture will simultaneously drive the teaching quality to new heights, and bring benefits to Hong Kong. Looking ahead, the University will continue to improve its facilities, enhance research culture, and foster research and academic collaborations with other institutions and organizations," Prof. Wong said.
