Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) held the second talk of its brand new public lecture series “Talk of the Metropolis” today (19 October). The Honourable Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR, was invited as the speaker to share his insights on the topic of “The Future of Hong Kong Economy”. The talk was well attended by over 200 participants in person and via webinar.

Addressing the audience, HKMU Council Chairman Mr Michael Wong Yick-kam said that the future of Hong Kong economy is one of the issues that Hong Kong citizens, especially the young people, are very concerned about. The Financial Secretary has provided an in-depth analysis of the current economic situation in Hong Kong at the talk and discussed with the participants about the future opportunities and challenges of Hong Kong economy.

To tie in with the significant milestone of university retitling, HKMU launches in September 2021 the new public lecture series “Talk of the Metropolis” in which government officials, leaders, scholars and experts in different professions will be invited to deliver lectures on a wide range of topics, fostering the exchange of knowledge and experience.

All the talks of the “Talk of the Metropolis” will be broadcast in the “Knowledge for All” TV programme on TVB Pearl every Sunday morning, allowing Hong Kong citizens to learn new knowledge from the speakers.
