The School of Nursing and Health Studies at Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) organised a “Health Expo” on 14 October at the Homantin Plaza, where students from the School provided a wide range of community health services to approximately 250 individuals. These services included measurement of blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol as well as testing on handgrip strength, balance and flexibility. Participants were also arranged to undergo body fat analyses, health consultations and heart-health screenings, and they received souvenirs from HKMU. The event was well received by the public, and students were able to apply the skills learnt in the classroom to community services, promoting the importance of health to the general public.

Following this event, the School will organise another “Health Expo” in March 2024. In addition to health-related screening, the event will feature a Fall Prevention Seminar by registered physiotherapists and doctors. Physiotherapists will demonstrate stretching exercises to help the public address common health problems, while registered nurses will be available to advise on health-related issues. Additionally, nursing and physiotherapy students from HKMU will organise game booths for participants. The public is welcome to participate in the expo.
