HKMU's endeavours in promoting an entrepreneurial spirit among students are bearing fruit. At the 10th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, HKMU students were awarded prizes as part of three teams in different categories.

Among them, Liu Tsam-yi and Zhang Yongchao, both awardees of the inaugural HKMU Hackathon, teamed up with colleagues from other universities to enter the project OxySkin Photosynthetic Polymer Artificial Skin in the startup category. Making use of their business knowledge, they came up with a proposal for marketising a patented artificial skin that will facilitate wound healing, and it received a Third Prize.

The two other HKMU teams were awarded Merit Prizes. One was formed by three students studying Internet Technology, presenting their Internet technology project CantoLink, while the other consisted of students from the Department of Construction and Quality Management, pitching their entrepreneurship proposal Combing Digital Twin and Mixed Reality on Improving Building Inspection Training Quality and Process.

Organised by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association since 2015, the Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is the largest competition of its kind in Hong Kong. It is linked two national competitions, namely Challenge Cup and Internet+, to which it nominates outstanding projects to join as Hong Kong representative teams. This year, the competition received a record-breaking 470 project submissions from 1,664 participants entered by 21 tertiary institutions.
