Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) has been awarded 1,914 places in 20 programmes under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) for 2025/26 cohort – undergraduate programmes, announced by the Education Bureau today (10 September). HKMU accounts for nearly 40% of the total number of funded places, the largest share among the eight participating institutions.

The Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours in Aviation Services Management of HKMU will be funded by the SSSDP in the 2025/26 academic year, offering a total of 65 funded first-year-first-degree and top-up degree places. The Bachelor of Science with Honours in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, which has already been included in SSSDP since last year, will be given an additional 10 top-up degree places in the 2025/26 academic year. Among HKMU's two programmes currently included in the Government's Pilot Project on the Development of Applied Degree Programmes, the number of first-year-first-degree funded places for the Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours in Integrated Testing, Inspection and Certification will significantly increase by 25, totalling 80 places for the 2025/26 academic year.

HKMU President Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing welcomed the increase in the number of funded programmes and places under SSSDP by EDB, which helps address the growing demand for talent in relevant industries. He believed that it demonstrates the support from the HKSAR Government to HKMU for its development as University of Applied Sciences and its efforts in nurturing outstanding talent for Hong Kong and the country.
