President Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing says that opinions from industry leaders would be sought, and the University would join force with industry leaders to nurture suitable talent for various industries in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) established the Career Development Advisory Committee (CDAC), which recently held its inaugural meeting. Its aim is to engage industry leaders to provide valuable guidance for students on employment and career development. It will also explore work-based learning opportunities to equip students with the skills and experience necessary to prepare them to join the workforce and contribute to society.
Addressing the inaugural meeting of the CDAC, HKMU Council Chairman Ir Dr Conrad Wong Tin-cheung joined President Prof. Paul Lam Kwan-sing in welcoming and expressing gratitude to the industry leaders for their participation and valued contribution to the career development and planning of students. HKMU has been actively strengthening its connections with employers through various channels to enhance student employability and entrepreneurial skills. By fostering a robust network and communication with diverse industries, the University is dedicated to nurturing talent and developing programmes that meet industry needs. This will ensure HKMU graduates are highly competitive in the job market, fostering a win-win situation for its students and their future employers.
The CDAC, comprising about 20 industry leaders and elites (see Appendix for details) representing diverse sectors as Executive Advisors, will work alongside students, alumni and University representatives to provide strategic guidance to enhance the students' career development and prospects. The establishment of the CDAC will further refine and enhance the University's support for its students' career development.
