The Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration (the Business School) of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LALIGA (through its Education Department, LALIGA Business School) to develop a dual master's degree programme.

This collaborative programme, with its focus on sports management and marketing on a global level, will not only be the first-of-its-kind in Hong Kong, but is also LALIGA's first dual degree programme. The objective of the programme is to cultivate talent for and support the growth of the sports industry. This demonstrates HKMU's commitment to supporting the Government's efforts in fostering a “Sports for All” culture and promoting Hong Kong as a hub for major international sports events.

Addressing the ceremony, the Dean of the Business School, Prof. Alan Au, expressed his gratitude to LALIGA. “We are standing here at a very exciting threshold in our longstanding partnership,” said Prof. Au. “This initiative will leverage our respective strengths to nurture future talents who can contribute to and support the professionalisation of sports in Hong Kong and beyond.”

Mr Sergi Torrents, Managing Director of LALIGA in China, conveyed his excitement about taking the collaboration between the two parties to the next level. “We're going to deliver, as usual, the best education and the best programme for students of HKMU,” said Mr. Torrents. “Our goal is to contribute to education and sports marketing in Hong Kong.”

Since the Business School and LALIGA first entered into an educational alliance in 2020, LALIGA has been a highly valued partner of the Business School and the University, providing students with opportunities to engage with industry professionals and enrich their learning experience in sports business through a variety of seminars and networking events. LALIGA has also been hosting undergraduate students from the Business School for overseas study tours to Madrid, where they learn about Spanish culture as well as the latest trends in sports marketing, event management and branding strategies.
