The Tin Ka Ping Centre of Chinese Culture (the Centre) at Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) distinguished itself in the 7th National College Student Art Exhibition and Performance, winning the “First Class Award for Outstanding Cases of Innovative Reforms in Aesthetic Education in Higher Education Institutions”. This marks the second consecutive time the Centre has received this honour. HKMU is the only higher education institution in Hong Kong to receive this prestigious award.
The winning project portfolio, titled “Art, Innovation, and Chinese Cultural Education”, summarises the Centre’s years of integrating innovative elements into Chinese cultural education and disseminating it through diverse artistic forms. The project portfolio introduced four key projects, fully demonstrating the Centre’s innovative achievements in blending cultural promotion with artistic creation and injecting new vitality into traditional cultural education.
The triennial National College Student Art Exhibition and Performance is the highest-standard national art event in the Mainland. The 7th event was organised by the National Ministry of Education and the Hubei Provincial Government from 12 to 18 June in Xiangyang, Hubei.
Dr Rebecca Leung Mo-ling, Director of the Centre, said “This is the second consecutive time the Centre has received this accolade. The winning project portfolio includes the “Visualizing Programme for Morality Experts”, in collaboration with The Salvation Army Tin Ka Ping School, demonstrating the Centre’s efforts to promote Chinese culture at the primary, secondary and university levels. Dr Leung expressed her gratitude to the Tin Ka Ping Foundation for its continuous support and for the efforts of the Centre members, including Dr Lee Lok-man, and colleagues Vincent Mak Shing-fung, Janet Lau Man-ying, Yu Hau-lik, Carys Kung Sin-yi, Joyce Wong Ching-man, Virginia Yeung Wing-sze, Elaine Tsang Ling-yi, Wendy Leung Wing-yin and Mabel Wong Shuk-ming. In the future, the Centre and the Department of Creative Arts will leverage the event to continue to promote the development of Chinese culture and arts education.”
Established in 2015 with the support of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the Centre has been dedicated to promoting Chinese culture for years. The Award affirms the Centre’s efforts in promoting Chinese cultural education and highlights HKMU’s achievements in fostering students’ creative thinking and artistic literacy. In the future, the Centre will continue to uphold the concept of “Art, Innovation and Chinese Cultural Education” and remain committed to nurturing talent with artistic cultivation and innovative capabilities to create more possibilities for Hong Kong’s cultural and artistic development.
In addition to the Centre’s First Class Award, HKMU’s creative arts students excelled in the event, securing a First Class Award in Photography, a Second Class Award in Painting, and a Second Class Award in Micro-Film. These accomplishments further demonstrate HKMU's achievements in nurturing talent for the creative arts. <Details>
