Our athletes have brought back more exciting news from this season's USFHK competitions! We were especially heartened by the exceptional achievements of the HKMU Taekwondo Team in the 2023–2024 USFHK Taekwondo Competition. In Men's Black Belt Kyorugi, Wong Tsz-hin won a gold medal in the under 74kg group, while Li Lap-fu captured bronze in the above 87kg group. In Men's Black Belt Poomsae, Xu Jinxuan got a bronze medal in the Style 6 & Koryo category, while Li Lap-fu and Wong Tsz-shun received fourth place in the categories of Style 7 & Keumgang and Style 8 & Taebak respectively. The Men's Poomsae Team also took part in the team competition (for Style 6 & Koryo) and attained fourth place. Adding up all scores, the Men's Team was placed fourth.
Meanwhile, the HKMU Karatedo Team made impressive marks in the USFHK Karatedo Competition 2023–2024. Wong Sui-kei reached the Women's Kumite +61kg final and captured silver, whereas Lai Chun-yu was the bronze medalist of the Men's Kumite -75kg event.
The 62nd USFHK Annual Athletic Meet saw 14 HKMU representatives compete in an array of events, including the Men's 100M, Men's 200M, Men's 400M, Men's 800M and 4x100M Relay. Among them, Cheng Cheung-hung finished at 10.79 seconds in the Men's 100M and took home the silver medal.
The HKMU Dragon Boat Team also gave its best shot in the Small Boat Mixed of the 1688 USFHK Dragon Boat Competition 2023–2024, receiving fourth place among seven university teams.
Earlier, the HKMU Swimming Team had already gained three silver medals in the USFHK Annual Aquatic Meet 2023–24. It is a great delight to see more and more HKMU students shine in the sports field.
