“Metropolitan Cup” 3x3 Basketball Tournament featuring 18 basketball teams from Chinese and foreign tertiary education institutions

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), the “Metropolitan Cup” – a 3x3 basketball tournament – was held from 22 to 23 June. For the first time, the event invited 18 teams, representing tertiary education institutions from Hong Kong, Macau, the Mainland and Singapore, facilitating sports exchange among Asian tertiary education institutions. After two days of competitions, Dalian University of Technology was crowned Cup Champion....

Two HKMU students awarded For Our Future Scholarship

Nursing student Cherie Fung Pui-wing and physiotherapy student Tammy Tam Ka-hei each received the For Our Future Scholarship from the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation. Cherie is an archery coach who is devoted to promoting mental health through teaching archery to others, while Tammy has established the “Fighting Cancer Platform” with her own anti-cancer experience to support patients by organising events and workshops and providing relevant information. With their outstanding academic performance and active participation in community service, they stood out among 250 applicants from 13 local institutions. They were each awarded a scholarship of HK$50,000 and the opportunity to participate in a Beijing exchange trip....

Over 1,100 distinguished HKMU students recognised in government scholarship scheme

A total of 1,102 HKMU full-time students were honoured in the HKSAR Government's Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) this academic year, receiving a record-breaking total of HK$18.49 million. They were recognised in five award categories under the Scheme, with 244 receiving the Outstanding Performance Scholarship, 575 the Reaching Out Award, 163 the Talent Development Scholarship, 54 the Endeavour Scholarship, and 66 the Best Progress Award. Among them, five representatives attended the award presentation ceremony on 25 April....

HKMU Dragon Boat Team captures two awards at the 67th Festival of Sport

The HKMU Dragon Team put their best foot forward at the Dragon Boat Competition of the 67th Festival of Sport held on 21 April. They took the first runner-up in the Small Boat 100M Mixed Championship category and the second runner-up in the Small Boat 100M Post-secondary Open Championship category. HKMU students receive Link University Scholarship

Seven HKMU students were awarded the Link University Scholarship for their outstanding academic results and proactive participation in community services. The awardees were invited to celebrate their achievements at the Link University Scholarship 2023 Presentation Ceremony held on 2 March, where they each received a scholarship of HK$20,000. The awarded students are automatically admitted to the Link Scholars Alumni scheme, through which Link will provide career counselling, corporate visits, volunteer activities and priority consideration to the company's internship programme....

HKMU swimmers claim three silver medals in USFHK Aquatic Meet

HKMU swimmers put their best stroke forward at the most recent Annual Aquatic Meet by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong (USFHK) and were rewarded with encouraging results. The spotlight fell especially on Tsang Pak-ho, who came second in two individual 50 metre races — Freestyle and Butterfly. He bagged a third silver medal with fellow teammates, Chow King-him, Ma Wing-sum and Phoebe Cheuk Yuet-ying, in the Mixed 4 x 50 metre Freestyle Relay. Overall, the HKMU Swimming Team ranked sixth out of 12 university teams, with the boys' and girls' teams placed sixth and seventh respectively....
