Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) has officially received professional accreditation from the Physiotherapists Board of the Supplementary Medical Professions Council (SMPC) for its four-year Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physiotherapy programme, which was launched in 2020 to meet strong demand for healthcare professionals in Hong Kong. Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are often prescribed oral corticosteroids (OCSs) if there is a sudden deterioration in their condition. A scholar of the School of Nursing and Health Studies at Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) and related research team conducted a long-term study that unveils an increased risk of 17 diseases, including cardiovascular disease, associated with OCS use for COPD.
