Staff papers win recognition at major creative writing conference

Two faculty members of the School of Arts and Social Sciences won awards for papers they presented at the ninth Annual Conference of Chinese Creative Writing, one of the largest academic conferences on Chinese-language creative writing in China. Dr Shawn Shao Dong, Acting Head of Creative Arts and Assistant Professor, received a First-Class Award for a piece analysing the narrative in Black Myth: Wukongm, an action role-playing game adapted from the classic novel Journey to the West, while Assistant Professor Dr Benson Tong Tsz-ben's discussion of Chinese communication under the lens of creative writing was recognised with a Second-Class Award....

Writing by master's graduates in creative writing recognised in national inter-collegiate competition

Three master's graduates in creative writing were recognised in the 11th national inter-collegiate literary competition “Weeds Literary Prize”. Fu Wei won a First Class Award (Poetry) for “Yum Cha at Night”, Sha Xiantong received a Second Class Award (Poetry) for “Examination of Animal Poetics”, and Huang Weixing received a Merit Award (Fiction) for “The Last Chapter”....

Novel by creative writing master's graduate adapted into a LARP script by the Museum of Hong Kong Literature

An original mystery novel, titled Inspiration (《靈感》), by Shang Mengjie, a graduate of the Master of Arts in Creative Writing programme, was adapted to a script for the first music-themed live-action role play game (LARP) by the Museum of Hong Kong Literature. The LARP incorporates holographic projection technology to provide players with an immersive theatre experience. After receiving positive feedback in a public playtest on 31 October, it will be launched officially on 14 December....
