Innovative student project on building inspection snatches awards in three competitions

Four students from the School of Science and Technology (S&T) formed a team to participate in the IFMA Inter-Institutional Competition on Best Facility Management Project Presentation 2024 organised by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Hong Kong Chapter. Poetry by master's student appreciated once again

Master of Arts in Creative Writing student Fu Wei submitted his serial poem “Word Bricks” to the 41^st National University Student Cherry Blossom Poetry Invitational Competition and came away with a Second Class Award. HKMU alumna snatches Queen of the Buns title again

Nursing graduate Janet Kung Tsz-shan is passionate about sports. She has been participating in the Cheung Chau Bun Scrambling Competition since 2012. In 2019, she won the championship of the women's group and was crowned Queen of the Buns for the first time. This year, she scored 842 points, beating two other female finalists and triumphing again as Queen of the Buns. She was also the highest scorer among all contestants in the competition....

Two HKMU students awarded For Our Future Scholarship

Nursing student Cherie Fung Pui-wing and physiotherapy student Tammy Tam Ka-hei each received the For Our Future Scholarship from the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation. Cherie is an archery coach who is devoted to promoting mental health through teaching archery to others, while Tammy has established the “Fighting Cancer Platform” with her own anti-cancer experience to support patients by organising events and workshops and providing relevant information. With their outstanding academic performance and active participation in community service, they stood out among 250 applicants from 13 local institutions. They were each awarded a scholarship of HK$50,000 and the opportunity to participate in a Beijing exchange trip....

Over 1,100 distinguished HKMU students recognised in government scholarship scheme

A total of 1,102 HKMU full-time students were honoured in the HKSAR Government's Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) this academic year, receiving a record-breaking total of HK$18.49 million. They were recognised in five award categories under the Scheme, with 244 receiving the Outstanding Performance Scholarship, 575 the Reaching Out Award, 163 the Talent Development Scholarship, 54 the Endeavour Scholarship, and 66 the Best Progress Award. Among them, five representatives attended the award presentation ceremony on 25 April....

HKMU Dragon Boat Team captures two awards at the 67^th Festival of Sport

The HKMU Dragon Team put their best foot forward at the Dragon Boat Competition of the 67^th Festival of Sport held on 21 April. They took the first runner-up in the Small Boat 100M Mixed Championship category and the second runner-up in the Small Boat 100M Post-secondary Open Championship category. Earlier the team participated in the 1688 USFHK Dragon Boat Competition 2023–2024 and was ranked fourth among seven university teams....

Chinese education student attains Gold Award in writing competition

The Bachelor of Education with Honours (Chinese Language Teaching) and Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours (Applied Chinese Language Studies) programme encourages students to take active part in writing competitions in order to brush up their writing skills. Year 3 student Kris Lam Hoi-ching entered the Hong Kong School Writing Competition 2023 organised by the International Children Culture & Arts Development Association with an essay for one of the set topics, 'The … I love” (「我愛的……」). The entry was judged as excellent in terms of topic delivery, expression skills, structure and grammar, and was given a Gold Award....

Graduate animation earns industry recognition

Sleepless Night, an animation directed by Animation and Visual Effects graduates Lau Wing-wa, Cheng Hoi-tong and Sau Cheuk-yiu, won Hong Kong Best Art in the 25^th DigiCon6 ASIA Awards, representing yet another recognition of the artistic level of HKMU animators. Earlier, the film has earned the Best Creative Award in the Creative Achievement Awards 2023....
