To engage the community and strengthen various aspects of safeguarding work for the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Hong Kong, the ICH Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department launched The ICH Funding Scheme to invite applications from experts and scholars for the Partnership Projects under the Scheme. It is the first research funding scheme of ICH in Hong Kong.
Dr Law Lok-yin, Lecturer of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, was successfully granted a research funding of HK$503,800 to participate in the Research and Survey for Enriching the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory of Hong Kong”. Dr Law will conduct survey and research on items not yet included in the ICH Inventory of Hong Kong, and further provide advice to the government. His study will cover nine cultural items in Hong Kong, including Birthday of Jade Emperor and Earth God, Kwun Yum Open Treasury, Winter Ancestral Worship of Cheung Chau Chiu Chow Association, Hong Kong Comics and Lighting Lantern Ritual in Lin Fa Tei Village of Pat Heung, etc., making contributions to the inheritance of ICH in Hong Kong.
