Details:
Two innovative projects by students and alumni, which had earlier won awards at the tenth Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, went on to gain accolades in several nationwide competitions.
The project OxySkin Photosynthetic Polymer Artificial Skin, conceived by Liu Tsam-yi and Zhang Yongchao, along with colleagues from other universities, aims to commercialise a patented artificial skin that facilitates wound healing. It obtained a Silver Award in the 14th “Challenge Cup” National College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition, a Bronze Award in the China International College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2024, and a Merit Award in the 11th China Youth Entrepreneurship Competition (Technology and Innovation).
The other award-winning project was CantonLink, a platform for automatically generating Cantonese-to-text language subtitles, developed by Tsang Tsz-yui, Lau Lok-lam, Ng Man-kwan and Fu Jingchang. It received a Bronze Award in the 14th “Challenge Cup” National College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition.
The Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association, which hosts the Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, also leads HKSAR teams to participate in many large-scale and respected innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in mainland China. In 2024, it led teams from 11 local universities with over 50 projects to participate in four national competitions, namely the China International College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2024, organised by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the 14th “Challenge Cup” National College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition and the 11th China Youth Entrepreneurship Competition, organised by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the 10th National Youth Popular Science Innovation Experiment and Works Competition (第十屆全國青年科普創新實驗暨作品大賽), organised by the China Association for Science and Technology.
