Cantonese Opera Research Centre – opening ceremony

The University's new research centre for Cantonese Opera was officially opened at the “Glamour of Cantonese Opera Shines through the Academia” Ina Ho Cantonese Opera Research Centre Opening Ceremony cum Cantonese Opera Performance, held at the Xiqu Centre in West Kowloon. The ceremony included performances by renowned Cantonese opera artists, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated at by Dr Ina Ho Chan Un-chan, Founder of the Hong Kong Cantonese Opera Troupe, Mr Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Zhang Guoyi, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, and HKMU President Prof. Paul Lam.

Learning and Teaching Week 2023

To prepare staff for a successful start to the academic year, the Office for Advancement of Learning and Teaching organised HKMU Learning and Teaching Week 2023 for staff. It included induction seminars focused on teaching processes, with topics such as teaching with outcome-based education, effective assessment and constructive feedback, and tips and tricks from the University's Learning and Teaching Evangelists. Renowned experts from Singapore, the UK, the US and local universities were also invited to share their expertise on AI and ChatGPT for higher education, the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), and blended learning.

Parenting education for grassroots families

A new parenting seminar series got underway this month, launched with a kick-off seminar titled “Parent-Child Relationships and Communication” held at Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village. The seminar was a fine example of HKMU's commitment to promoting parent education among grassroots families.
